marketer | writer | educator

You're good. Let me help you show it.

You need help

And I might very well be the person who can help, but first…

We need to talk.

I know, I know, I’m not supposed to start with a demand. I should be leading with how I feel your pain, how I understand what you need. But here’s the thing; I don’t know what you need.

So we need to talk.

I’m an experienced content writer, marketer, and educator. What I am not is a mind reader. I don’t know what kind of content you need without having a conversation about it, and there’s no point in pretending that I have the solution to a problem I don’t even know – much less understand – yet.

So, really, we need to talk

Rob Croll | Content Creator

More Than Just a Writer

If you want to work with me, we’ll start by having a conversation. The good news for you is that it’s painless (I promise) and free. I won’t waste your time, and I won’t accept work if I don’t feel confident that I can provide what you need.

Sometimes, what you need is pretty straightforward – blog posts, website copy, email campaigns, or maybe even a LinkedIn profile.

Oftentimes, though, clients need something more. They need someone who can truly partner with them to help clarify exactly what they are trying to accomplish before the content creation even begins. They need an experienced marketer – not just a copywriter – to help them formulate a strategy before they start executing tactics. In short, they need someone like me, who not only brings content creation skills to the table, but also a big-picture view about how to make everything work together using cost-effective marketing strategies.

How working with me works

All relationships should be this easy! 🙂

1

You tell me what you’re
hoping to achieve

2

I gather the information
to evaluate your needs

3

I provide a written
proposal

4

I go to work, and you get to focus on the rest of your job

Needs identification (no charge) – This is where we decide if we want to work together. Consider it our first date, but without the pressure – just a genuine interest in determining if what I can offer is a match for what you need. We’ll discuss what you are hoping to get from a content creator in the context of your big picture goals and anything else that is important for me to know up front.

Quote
– Based on our conversation, I will provide a quote for the services that I recommend.

The Work
– Every project is different. Some content projects can be done in a day, while others might take weeks or even months. This is the part of the process where communication is critical, and I take my role in our partnership seriously. I’ll keep you informed as needed throughout the process, and I ask that you be responsive to answer questions or give approvals along the way.

The Result!
– At the end of the day, I want you to be more than satisfied with the work I produce. One of the greatest feelings for me as a content creator is knowing that I, even in some small way, contributed to my clients’ success!

services - what I do

content strategy

Good content creation is about more than just tactics. It's about having a clearly defined plan that maximizes the effectiveness of everything you're doing with marketing. A good content strategy combined with solid execution can be the difference between so-so and so-amazing!

email

Email remains one of the most effective forms of digital marketing, but to really win at the email game, everything has to work together seamlessly. Let's make sure your customers are happy to see your messages in their inbox.

e-newsletters

Sometimes the best way to stay top of mind with your customers is through newsletters. But that can be a time-consuming task that too easily gets relegated to the bottom of the to-do list. I can help you develop a plan and stick to it with regular content updates.

Website Copy

The best website copy is focused on the user experience. Visitors to your site have far too many alternatives for them to waste time trying to find what they came for. Well-written content minimizes visitor frustration and maximizes satisfaction - which leads to more success for you.

blog posts

I've worked in higher education for over a decade, so I understand what it takes to create engaging content for today's online learners. In a time where technology is ever-evolving and ever-present, any content - including teaching content - needs to grab the reader's interest.

Resumes & online profiles

Whether for an individual or an organization, writing an online profile can induce panic. It can be hard to get it "just right" when you or your organization are the subject. Sometimes, an experienced content marketer like me can quickly highlight the essence of what you need to shine in the online world.

Curriculum

I've worked in higher education for over a decade, so I understand what it takes to create engaging content for today's learners. In a time where technology is ever-present, any content - including teaching content - needs to grab the reader's interest and provide immediate value.

ghostwriting

You have all the ideas, but you just need some help getting them down on paper. I can work with you in whatever way meets your needs best - from building your story through verbal interviews to taking your writings and making them shine even brighter.

copyediting

Everyone needs a good copyeditor. The good news for you is that you found one! Whether it's an article you're writing, your thesis, or your resume, I can make sure you shine.

what i don't do

I don’t do long-form sales letters. I am aware of the arguments in favor of that type of content, but I am also aware that my strength is in writing concise, straightforward content. Long-form sales letters require a completely different style of writing, and, while I’m adaptable, I believe your content creation dollars would best be spent elsewhere if that’s what you need. Please note that I am specifically talking about sales letters; I DO write long content of other types if that’s what you need.

I don’t take on projects with unreasonable expectations or deadlines. The best path to an unhappy client (and content creator) is overpromising and underdelivering.
